Craniosacral Therapy (CST)
Often inducing a deep state of relaxation, Craniosacral Therapy (CST) is a light touch, whole-body treatment that works with the brain and spinal cord to support and nourish the nervous system. Relieving tension in the central nervous system can promote an overall feeling of well-being and has been shown to decrease pain, reduce stress, and facilitate whole-body health and wellness.
Using about 5 grams of pressure (about the weight of a nickel) the CST practitioner uses their hands to evaluate the craniosacral system by gently feeling various locations of the body to test for the ease of motion and rhythm of the cerebrospinal fluid pulsing around the brain and spinal cord.
Soft touch techniques are then used to release restrictions in any tissues influencing the craniosacral system. By normalizing the environment around the brain and spinal cord and enhancing the body’s ability to self-correct, Craniosacral Therapy is able to alleviate a wide variety of dysfunctions, including but not limited to:
Anxiety
Chronic fatigue
Concussion syndrome
Depression
Fibromyalgia
Headaches and migraines
Neck and back pain
Orthopedic problems
Post-traumatic stress
Stress and tension related disorders
TMJ disorder
